Volume of data transferred in communications networks

These statistics detail the volume of data transmitted over mobile and fixed networks located in Finland. The data is updated twice a year. The statistics are produced by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

REVISIONS TO THE STATISTICS

The fixed network data traffic for the first half of 2023 is significantly higher than the previous figures due to development of companies' reporting.

The figures in the table concern the period from 1 July to 31 December 2025.

Definitions

Data transmission volume in mobile networks includes packet-switched data traffic sent and received using Finnish mobile subscriptions. The volume includes data traffic sent (uploaded) by customers and received (downloaded) by customers, excluding roaming and data traffic from M2M subscriptions. 

Data transmission volume in fixed networks includes data sent and received using fixed networks. The figure includes data traffic sent (uploaded) and received (downloaded) by customers.

Data volumes are calculated using the binary system. The figures include both residential and corporate customers.
