Supply of taxi services

These statistics provide information on the supply of taxi services and their development in Finland. The statistics are based on the register data of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and the public data of the Employment and Economic Development Office. Supply is examined based on taxi transport licences, taxi vehicles and taxi driving licences, among other factors. The statistics are updated once a year. Exceptional updating cycles have been marked separately. The information is produced by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

About the interpretation of taxi licence register data

While examining the statistics, one should keep in mind that the domicile of a taxi vehicle, company or driver, as registered in the licence register, may not necessarily reflect their operating area. For example, a taxi vehicle may have Uusimaa registered as its domicile in the register despite actually operating in some other region.

The graph is updated every six months.

The graph is updated every six months. The material has been grouped by municipal population in the graph. In addition to this, the Helsinki Metropolitan Area (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa), Tampere, Turku and Oulu have been illustrated separately. These separate areas are not included in municipalities with more than 50,000 residents.

Explanations:

In these statistics, taxi vehicles mean vehicle category M1 and M1G motor vehicles that have been registered for transport use subject to a licence. Vehicle category M vehicles are passenger cars that are intended primarily for the transport of persons or goods.

In these statistics, accessible vehicles mean the following vehicle types: ‘Small accessible vehicle’, ‘Large accessible vehicle’, ‘Taxi for the disabled’, ‘Accessible taxi car’, and ‘Accessible vehicle exempt from vehicle tax’.

Electric taxi vehicles mean vehicles in the electric driving power class.
