Purchase and conversion subsidy statistics

These statistics detail the numbers of conversion subsidies for passenger cars and purchase subsidies for passenger cars, vans and lorries. The data are updated monthly. The information is produced by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

Purchase and conversion subsidies can be granted for the purchase of an alternative fuel vehicle or the conversion of a vehicle to run on alternative fuel. Purchase subsidies can be applied for the purchase of electric passenger cars and electric and gas-powered vans or lorries. A conversion subsidy can be applied for the conversion of a passenger car to run on ethanol or gas.

NB: The application period for purchase subsidies for vans and lorries has ended 31 December 2024. The application period for passenger car conversion subsidies has ended 15 December 2024.

DATA COLLECTION METHODTraficom’s purchase subsidy recording system. The process for granting purchase subsidies for vans and lorries includes two stages: (1) issue of a conditional decision on the purchase of a vehicle and (2) issue of a confirmed decision when the vehicle has been registered for the first time. Because of this procedure, the data included in the recording system and the statistics on purchase subsidy applications may sometimes need to be retrospectively corrected.
