Energy consumption in communications networks
The statistic illustrated the annual energy consumption of Finnish communications networks and its development and distribution between fixed and mobile networks. The data was collected once a year from the largest telecommunications operators. The information was produced by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.
STATISTIC HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED
Traficom has discontinued statistics on energy consumption of electronic communications networks. The data collected from the operators did not achieve the same level of reliability and comparability as other statistics published by Traficom.
Energy consumption of telecommunications networks was collected divided into fixed access networks, mobile radio access networks, and other network elements. Mobile networks covered all network generations from 2G to 5G and fixed networks covered all technologies from copper networks to fibre networks.
